The lack of transparency in health care costs and not understanding one’s own health care needs makes choosing health care providers and plans a daunting task. I designed UI concepts for the Castlight Health website to empower individuals to understand their health care needs, make cost effective choices, and to encourage users to be more proactive about their health decisions.

I worked with the client to understand goals, requirements, and user needs in order to design wireframe concepts.

Wireframes

The current product emphasizes finding care. While this task is important, it doesn’t necessarily generate repeat visits once patients find care providers they’re satisfied with. To provide additional value, I created concepts that assist users in understanding their health care needs and help users make informed choices planning for future health care coverage.

I redesigned the homepage with a focus on providing a visual overview of health care spending and care history trends to build awareness and empower users with the tools to become proactive about their health care needs.

Easily Compare Plans

Plan Finder Wizard Step 3 - Compare and choose a plan

Recommended plans can be easily compared providing plan highlights, summaries, and tools for adjusting health preferences to see how each plan accommodates.


If the user has a current health care plan, it can be used as a benchmark to help users understand what the new plans offer.
